Studio Policies

Private Lessons

  1. If you cannot make the regularly scheduled lesson 1 week’s notice is required to find space in that same week’s schedule. If the schedule cannot accommodate your child that week that lesson can be made up in the weeks in June following the recital.

  2. There will be no makeup lessons for day of cancelations.

  3. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the end of the school year recital. Our curriculum and materials all lead to this performance.

  4. Snow Days: If schools are closed it will be most likely that the drum studio is closed. If the roads are cleared by 3:00pm and safe for travel we will have lessons. Otherwise, we will make up any missed classes later in the week of the school closure or after the recital.

  5. Students will arrive on time with all materials/books (5 minutes prior, no earlier ) and be picked up on time. Parents can drop off in the driveway or on Dutchess Terrace.

  6. Find a practice habit that works for your family. It is not the job of a child to remember to practice and feel motivated to do so. (although this is what we strive for!) It is the job of adults to help set and encourage practice time, taking an interest and asking questions after each lesson.

  7. Please don’t make excuses for your child in front of them. “Billy didn’t get to practice this week because we had a busy week.” Life has ups and downs, and some weeks work better than others. Learning to play with fluency is a journey over time.

  8. Payment: Each month you’ll make pre-payment for the month of lessons to follow within the first week of the month. I accept Venmo ( @David-Previ ) and Zelle ( 917.545.1913 — dprevi@gmail.com)

  9. This is a 10 month program with a recital that includes a live band at a venue TBD. Your monthly fee includes 33 1:1 lessons and the recital.

  10. Paying in full, total tuition for the school year is accepted by check or Venmo.

  11.  Dave has the right to terminate a student/family should payment be late or inconsistent with the terms set forth above.

  12. Summer study: available and encouraged.

Drummer Tots

  1. This is a group class, there are no makeups or reschedules.

  2. Parents will drop of their students with their materials 5 minutes before class time and not attend class. They can leave the premises or stay in their car, hang on the front porch or back patio if they like for a prompt pick up at the end of class.

  3. Snow Days: If schools are closed it will be most likely that the drum studio is closed. If the roads are cleared by 3:00pm and safe for travel we will have lessons.

  4. This class is an introduction to rhythm, drumming and music and is designed to be fun while instilling musical fundamentals. Practice is not required but encouraged. Ask your child what they are learning in class and encourage them to show you what they have learned.

  5. Payment: Each month you’ll make pre-payment for the month of lessons to follow within the first week of the month. I accept Venmo ( @David-Previ ) and Zelle ( 917.545.1913 — dprevi@gmail.com)

  6. Paying in full, total tuition for the school year is accepted by check or Venmo.

  7.  Dave has the right to terminate a student/family should payment be late or inconsistent with the terms set forth above.

  8. Refund Policy: 60 days notice in writing is required for any refunds. All students move on at some point, and we teachers know and understand this, but 2 months gives us time to say goodbye, have positive closure, and find a new student to replace that open spot. Example: January 1 “we are moving on” you will be charged for January and February. Recital fees are non-refundable.

  9. Summer study: available and encouraged.
